Faith Over Fear: My Journey Through Panic Attacks & Anxiety

In this deeply personal story, I share how God delivered me from crippling panic attacks and anxious thoughts — not through the world’s remedies, but through His Word, worship, and the power of godly community. This journey became one of surrender, sanctification, and spiritual renewal. If you’re battling fear, I invite you to discover the peace…

1. The Breaking Point

Anxiety once ruled my days — racing thoughts, tightness in my chest, and nights that ended in tears. I did all the “right” things the world suggested: routines, self-help, even medication. Yet nothing touched the fear beneath the surface.

One night, in the middle of another panic episode, I realized that what I needed wasn’t another fix — it was faith. I whispered, “God, I can’t carry this anymore.” And in that moment, His peace began to replace my panic.

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” — Psalm 56:3

2. Finding Peace in His Presence

God began teaching me that peace doesn’t come from control; it comes from surrender. Every time I felt anxiety rising, He invited me to lean into His presence instead of my fear.

Through worship, I learned to breathe again.
Through Scripture, I found truth that steadied my mind.
Through community, I found people who prayed when I couldn’t find the words myself.

The world offered coping mechanisms, but God offered transformation.

3. Faith Over Fear in Practice

Faith over fear isn’t the absence of emotion — it’s the redirection of it.
It’s choosing worship over worry.
It’s choosing prayer over panic.
It’s choosing to rest in the One who already conquered the battle we’re trying to fight alone.

Philippians 4:6-7 says,

“Do not be anxious about anything… but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This isn’t theory — it’s a promise. And it’s one I’ve watched unfold over time as I learned to depend on Him more than myself.

4. Reflection & Renewal

If you’re walking through fear right now, take heart — God hasn’t abandoned you.
Your anxiety doesn’t disqualify you from peace; it’s the very place where God wants to show His power.

Spend time today reflecting on these questions:

  • Where do I still try to control what only God can handle?
  • How can I make space for His presence in my anxious moments?
  • What worship or verse helps me re-center my heart in truth?

Closing Encouragement

Friend, God’s peace is not fragile. It’s steadfast, available, and strong enough to calm the loudest fear. When you surrender the outcome and fix your eyes on Him, panic loses its power.

This is not a story of perfection — it’s a testimony of presence. The same God who met me in my fear wants to meet you in yours.
